About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Analysis Scientist to join our Energy Markets team at Octopus Energy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for forecasting customer demand and production of our generation assets across international regions, ensuring that we have the electricity and gas needed to support our customers while also supporting the grid's transition to Net Zero.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing, improving, and maintaining forecasting models using data analysis techniques and machine learning algorithms.
  • Maintaining and automating forecasting processes, incorporating checks and alerting systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Designing and building forecasting dashboards and reports to cover operational processes and reporting requirements.
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborating with Risk, Trading, Renewables, and Flexibility teams to integrate forecasting capabilities into the wider business.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience with Python (pandas) and SQL is essential for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Able to quickly grasp commercial concepts and effectively communicate them to the team.
  • Strong teamwork and ownership skills, with enthusiasm for driving projects forward and delivering results.
  • Passion for contributing to the Net Zero mission.
  • Flexibility to travel to international offices, as required.
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Machine Learning, dbt, Airflow, and Spark
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including access to our UK perks hub: Octopus Employee Benefits.
