Role Overview:
The Environmental Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental policies and programs, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 standards, and promoting sustainable practices throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental Policy Development: Develop, implement, and manage environmental policies and programs in line with ISO 14001 standards.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations, and identify areas for improvement.
- Environmental Audits and Assessments: Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Lead initiatives to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption across the manufacturing process.
- Environmental Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on environmental performance, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business decisions.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to employees on environmental issues and best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and external stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on environmental trends, legislation, and best practices to keep the company ahead of compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, proven track record of successful environmental management and sustainability projects, strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations, excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Certification: Certification in environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Diploma) is a plus.
