The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) is a global coalition of financial institutions committed to accelerating the decarbonization of the economy in line with government commitments under the Paris Agreement. To achieve this goal, GFANZ is working closely with local and global partners to unlock transition finance in support of emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) seeking to accelerate their energy and wider net-zero transitions.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in representing GFANZ in stakeholder engagements and workstreams to support Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs). This includes building and maintaining excellent relations with key stakeholders across government, international partners, multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, and private and financial sectors.

  • Frequent engagement with JETP country governments, members of the International Partners Group (IPG), and public and private financial institutions.
  • Supporting the efficient tracking and shepherding of issues blocking the mobilization of private capital.
  • Developing and maintaining a strategic overview of potential areas where blended finance can increase the catalytic use of private finance for the energy transition.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with 5-7 years of experience working with blended finance structures, preferably in emerging markets and developing economies. The ideal candidate will have strong financial sector knowledge, ideally with a combination of knowledge about public and private finance. Experience with energy transition finance and communication with diverse stakeholders is also essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing GFANZ in stakeholder engagements and workstreams to support the JETPs.
  • Contributing to efficient tracking and shepherding of issues blocking the mobilization of private capital.
  • Developing and maintaining a strategic overview of potential areas where blended finance can increase the catalytic use of private finance for the energy transition.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5-7 years of experience working with blended finance structures in emerging markets and developing economies.
  • Strong financial sector knowledge, ideally with a combination of knowledge about public and private finance.
  • Experience with energy transition finance and communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strong team player able to work constructively and collaboratively across local and global stakeholders.

In terms of salary, we estimate that the successful candidate can expect a base salary of around £65,000 to £80,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.
