Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Team Lead to join our team at HL Services (London) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of ground preparation, ensuring that the playing surfaces are safe and suitable for play.

Turf Care Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the grounds to the highest standards, ensuring they are safe and suitable for play.
  • Implementing irrigation systems as required, arranging daily treading in and hole filling from the previous day's play, and surveying the grounds daily for signs of drought, disease, insect infestation, nutrient deficiency, and mechanical/physical damage.
  • Gang mowing/roller mowing as required, marking out the grounds and providing playing equipment as necessary.
  • Safely transporting horses and attending them at games and practices.
  • Picking up litter from the previous day's play, sweeping the concrete lines or raking the soil lines as required, as well as raking the sand area.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of grounds maintenance staff.
  • Coordinating daily tasks and ensuring the grounds are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Ensuring the horse ambulance is present at all games and practices, and making sure it is closely attended.
  • Managing budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of materials and personnel.
  • Developing and implementing effective strategies to improve turf care and grounds maintenance.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a team.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture and turf care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Salary: £48,000 - £58,000 per annum, depending on experience.
