About the Role

We are seeking a talented and ambitious individual to join our Blast Damage Assessment Team within the Systems Assessment Group at AWE.

This is a 12-month placement opportunity for university students to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and challenging environment.

  • As a member of our team, you will contribute to operational effectiveness and weapons effects assessments to AWE and our government stakeholders.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary projects, applying codified structural design practices, researching the response of structures under extreme dynamic loads, and developing skills in programming, operational analysis, and probabilistic assessment.
  • You will be supported by a line manager and a mentor, who will help you navigate your time with us and support you in developing the skills to build your career within the defence industry.
Your Learning Journey

Your on-programme learning will combine a corporate induction to help you get up to speed, on-the-job training, and some classroom-based or online learning depending on your role.

Alongside this, you will participate in an undergraduate group project team focusing on a business deliverable, giving you the opportunity to network with other undergraduates and the graduate community.
