Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled High Performance Computing (HPC) specialist to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE). As an HPC software development engineer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, installation, and maintenance of software modules.

About AWE: The Atomic Weapons Establishment is a leading provider of nuclear deterrent capabilities. Our team works closely with the Ministry of Defence to ensure the safety and security of the UK's nuclear arsenal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test, install, and maintain software modules
  • Produce online documentation
  • Maintain awareness of current and future developments in the HPC field

Requirements:

  • PhD or BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other numerate discipline
  • Equivalent industrial experience
  • Ability to programme in C, C++, Fortran, or similar high-level language
  • Familiarity with parallel programming concepts
  • Knowledge of computer architectures
  • Understanding of software development life cycles
  • Interest in processing technologies
