About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Controls Manager to join our team at AWE PLC. As a key member of our Project Controls team, you will be responsible for leading multi-functional teams and collaborating with Project Managers and Supply Chain to produce a pragmatic cost baseline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage risk, including qualitative and quantitative assessments to schedule predictability and cost.
  • Influence and support project managers and procurement to ensure schedule momentum and cash flow KPIs.
  • Role model best practice in conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, basic contingency principles, and procurement principles.
  • Coordinate and facilitate planning sessions and workshops to compile the master project/programme schedule baseline, ensuring an achievable duration.
  • Utilize expertise in procurement schedules to create achievable lead times within the schedule.
  • Prioritize materials and equipment orders to meet scheduled install dates.
  • Influence key stakeholders to facilitate sign-off of baseline and encourage visibility of regular progress updates.
  • Introduce robust change processes, ensuring schedules, interfaces, cost, risk, and changes are managed appropriately.
  • Owning the change management process and workflow.
  • Highlight trends and root causes of deviations against the baseline using lead and lag indicators and reporting effective remedial actions to drive best value for the client.
Requirements
  • Deliver controls in a major project/programme environment, ideally within Defence, Data Centres, Life Sciences, Pharma, R&D facilities, Industrial, Manufacturing, Distribution & Logistics sectors.
  • Mentor and develop a multi-functional controls team.
  • Controls/general software applications such as Primavera (P6), Power BI.
  • Insight into engineering, procurement, contracts, construction processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Head collaborative focus groups.
