Technical Requirements

STEM Recruitment is seeking a skilled Graduate Embedded Systems Engineer to join their team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to work on designing and developing software defined radio (SDR) based products, including cellular base stations, scanners, and other specialist radio equipment.

About the Team

You will be joining a dynamic and innovative team of engineers who are passionate about delivering high-quality solutions to clients across various industries. As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including embedded software development, protocol stack development, and signal processing algorithm development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Capturing system requirements from customers and contributing to system designs as part of a project team
  • Embedded software development in C/C++ on one of our hardware platforms
  • Protocol stack development in C/C++
  • Signal processing algorithm development in Verilog on an FPGA
  • Design and development of tools for use in-house and by customers
  • Testing and debugging systems, including fixing bugs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, covering one or more of: Electronics, Wireless Communications, Signal Processing, Software Engineering, or a comparable discipline from a good university
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language, preferably C
Desirable Skills
  • Digital signal processing and communication systems
  • Digital design using Verilog or VHDL
  • Mobile telephony systems, such as 5GNR, LTE, UMTS, and GSM
  • Matlab
