Senior Embedded Systems Lead Opportunity in Cambridge, UK
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Embedded Systems Lead to join our team in Cambridge, UK. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing FPGA design initiatives, creating prototypes and reference designs for IP platforms.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FPGA engineering, with experience in leading teams and managing projects. Proficiency in the FPGA design flow, including RTL design, simulation, synthesis, and place-and-route, is essential. Strong coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL and experience with scripting for design automation (e.g., Python TCL) are also required. Familiarity with Xilinx UltraScale+ devices, Synplify toolchain, and DDR memory implementation is desirable.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects, lead a team, and develop efficient FPGA designs. The estimated salary for this position is £85,000 - £115,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team in developing FPGA implementations from design to hardware commissioning.
- Collaborating with development teams to break down high-level requirements into detailed design specs.
- Overseeing project planning and delivery, identifying risks and tracking milestones.
- Developing efficient FPGA designs including RTL creation and implementation for both internal and third-party platforms.
Requirements include:
- Proven leadership in FPGA engineering with strong project planning abilities.
- Proficiency in the FPGA design flow including RTL design simulation synthesis and place-and-route.
- Strong coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL.
- Experience with scripting for design automation e.g. Python TCL.
- Experience with debugging complex designs embedded software and hardware simulation.
- Knowledge of Xilinx UltraScale+ devices Synplify toolchain and DDR memory implementation.
- Familiarity with ARM IP and AMBA standards with skills in C/C++ and UNIX scripting a plus.
