Job Title: EAL Teaching Assistant - Secondary School
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in a dynamic secondary school in Oldham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted support to students with EAL needs, helping them improve their English language skills.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to deliver tailored interventions and support in line with students' learning plans.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of resources that meet the individual needs of EAL students.
- Support students in understanding and completing classwork, assignments, and assessments.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence and academic progress.
- Monitor and track the progress of EAL students, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
Requirements:
- Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience working with students who have EAL needs, particularly within a secondary school environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students' language development and academic success.
- Knowledge of strategies to support language acquisition and integration in the classroom.
