Job Summary

The primary function of this role is to ensure the effective management and maintenance of digital media services equipment, as well as the provision of technical support to staff and students. As part of the Technical Team, you will contribute to the development and provision of specialist learning resources to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the academic community.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the maintenance and cleaning of specialist machinery and equipment, liaise with suppliers, and coordinate the loaning of equipment as required.
  2. Maintain stocks, keep accurate records, and liaise on the administration of the budget as requested.
  3. Responsible for the organisation and maintenance of technical resources for all areas, including arrangement for PAT testing and recommendations for upgrades.
  4. Provide guidance, support, and instruction to students and staff on new and existing equipment loan processes.
  5. Assist in the preparation of technical handouts and advise on technical requirements for curriculum development, monitoring, and audits and inspections.
  6. Liaise with the Director of Content, Course Leaders, and academic colleagues on the planning, scheduling, and deployment of technical support and resources in relation to the delivery of specific programmes' learning outcomes.
  7. Provide basic first line troubleshooting/fault findings and escalate to ITS when required.
  8. Engage in supporting the lighting, sound, and production of film and studio productions both on site and on location.
  9. Maintain and demonstrate up-to-date operational technical knowledge and participate in the use of photographic and video production equipment, video and audio recording, and post-production equipment and digital manipulation.
  10. Comply with and support the University's Health, Safety, and Wellbeing policies and take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
  11. Be part of a team supporting students, staff, and visiting professionals with all the technical aspects of their practical work:
  • Ensuring effective communication systems are developed and implemented;
  • Instructing them in the safe and effective use of technical equipment;
  • Providing (where relevant) effective training in the use of technical and other resources;
  • Contributing to the development of a performance culture at Regent's University London by attending production meetings as required;
  • Specifying and sourcing equipment for productions;
  • Providing ad hoc technical assistance for Regent's University London events, as requested.
Creation of technical training materials for the use of Studio and editing resources using the University VLE.Any other relevant duties that may arise from time to time as requested by the Director of Content, Course Leaders, Head of ITS Service Operations, or other senior management of the University, including covering other technicians and technical demonstrators as required.Assistance at open days and agents' visits.Actively seek to implement the University's health and safety policy and give due regard to the health and safety of themselves and others when carrying out duties.Actively seek to implement the University's equal opportunities policy and promote equality of opportunity in relation to the duties of the post.To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the post.
