Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll and Finance Officer to join our team at St Michael's Catholic School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an exceptional finance and payroll service to the school, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Finance and Payroll
    • Supervise the school's finance team and assist the Director of Business Services in providing a high-quality finance and payroll service.
    • Process staff changes in the payroll system, including new starters and leavers.
    • Reconcile payroll discrepancies and investigate any issues.
    • Produce monthly management accounts and present outcomes to the Director of Business Services.
    • Assist the Head's of Departments/Key Stages in managing their budgets by producing monthly information and highlighting variances.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Produce financial reports for the Director of Business Services on presentation of finances to the Local Academy Committees.
    • Provide training to school budget holders on how to use the finance system.
  • Compliance and Governance
    • Ensure compliance with all Trust policies and procedures, including those relating to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, and confidentiality/data protection.
    • Attend relevant meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in financial software and systems, with experience of payroll processing and financial reporting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
