Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Manager to join our team at Thorn Baker Group. As a key member of our HSEQ team, you will be responsible for providing ongoing support to our construction sites in the Birmingham and West Midlands region.

Your primary focus will be on driving HSEQ initiatives, monitoring site safety performance, and ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 Safety, Quality, and Environment Management systems, company policies, and procedures. You will work closely with site management teams, technicians, and client safety teams to achieve our HSEQ goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the client and internal H&S team
  • Oversee and manage a small SHEQ team
  • Chair internal site H&S meetings
  • Attend client H&S meetings
  • Support site team on all H&S aspects
  • Review safe systems of work
  • Attend and advise during safe start meetings
  • Manage day-to-day H&S activities on site
  • Conduct workplace inspections and report findings
  • Conduct investigations into accidents or incidents
  • Manage on-site occupational health
  • Coordinate training of project staff
  • Contribute to the maintenance of ISO 45001

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a busy site-based H&S role within the construction industry
  • An effective communicator at all levels with client-facing experience
  • A technically aware team player with experience providing health and safety support in the construction/building services sectors
  • IT literate with proficient report-writing skills
