Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join their client, a leading chemical manufacturer based in the UK.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for championing health and safety initiatives in the workplace, ensuring the implementation of a corporate health and safety strategy at site level, and maintaining legal compliance and company standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead all health and safety legislative and regulatory matters, liaising with relevant organizations.
  • Develop, review, and update the H&S Management System and health, safety, and security procedures.
  • Conduct, lead, and organize workplace risk assessments.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis for accidents and incidents, and undertake incident investigation to learn lessons and implement improvements.
  • Lead the internal Audit Team, conducting management system audits as required under ISO 9001/14001 and supporting the preparation and execution of external audits.
  • Resolve site issues and assist in the implementation of new methods, techniques, and practices arising from internal and external monitoring activities.
  • Prepare regular reports on safety performance and departmental KPIs, monitor performance against targets, and identify, recommend, and implement action plans as necessary.
Requirements

The successful candidate must have previous experience working in a similar Health and Safety Manager/Specialist role, ideally coming from a chemical manufacturing background. A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent is essential for this position. A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. Thorough knowledge of H&S laws, regulations, practice, and standards is required. Experience of ISO 9001/14001 and internal auditing is also necessary.
