We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly paediatric ward team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting the ward team in the smooth running of the ward. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide support to children and their families under the supervision of the registered nursing team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to children and their families under the supervision of the registered nursing team.
- Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight on instruction from the RN.
- Test specimens and record the results.
- Support patients undergoing clinical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Restock departmental areas as required and report any shortages to the NiC/Ward Manager.
- Use IT systems as required.
- Supervise the young person admitted with a mental health disorder.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff, and other health service business.
- Participate in quality assurance programmes as required.
- Participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and act as a role model at all times.
We are looking for a candidate who is able to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and a compassionate attitude towards working with patients. A commitment to completing all training, including the Care Certificate, is essential.
Desirable criteria include maths and English GCSE or equivalent grade D/3 or above, nursery nurse or equivalent NVQ 11 in care, and healthcare-related NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent at Level 2.
