About the Role

The University of Manchester seeks a highly skilled and motivated Research Technician to join its esteemed Fungal Infection Group. This exciting opportunity will involve supporting a wide range of research activities, contributing to experimental design, data analysis, presentation, and reporting. The successful candidate will also be responsible for training, advisory, and supervisory roles, ensuring compliance with University procedures and regulations.

Job Description

This full-time position is based at the University's campus in Manchester, UK. As a Research Technician, you will work closely with the research team to independently perform grant-funded experiments, contribute to experimental design, and participate in data analysis, presentation, and reporting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a high level of laboratory organization and equipment management.
  • Providing expert advice on molecular biology, immunological, protein purification, and microbiological techniques.
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure a clear understanding of the needs of the School, Faculty, and University.

You will be expected to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate excellent communication skills. A strong understanding of health and safety legislation and experience in laboratory management are essential for this role.

Requirements

We are seeking an individual with a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, or Microbiology) and significant experience in molecular biology, immunology, protein purification, and/or microbiology techniques. A good understanding of laboratory management and a proven track record in independent experimentation are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly are also essential.
