Job Summary

Genesis Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to support the development of safety requirements for all projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with design teams and supply base to ensure safe designs across the customer base.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Support cross-functional development teams on functional safety matters across the entire development and verification cycle.
  2. Provide guidance and support on functional safety requirements, including Item Definition, Hazard Identification, Hazard Analysis, and Risk Assessments.
  3. Develop and maintain functional safety requirements management systems to ensure traceability across the functional safety lifecycle of projects.
  4. Act as a single point of accountability for the delivery of functional safety work products.
  5. Present reasoned safety analysis and arguments to educate stakeholders and influence design decisions.
  6. Participate in technical reviews and supplier workshops.
  7. Create and maintain formal documents, such as HARA, Safety Plans, FSC, TSC, FMEA, Safety Case, and DIA.
  8. Keep status trackers up to date, showing the status of all responsible projects.
  9. Cooperate with project managers, development teams, and customers. Liaise with suppliers to ensure achievement of safety requirements.
  10. Carry out functional safety audits.
  11. Ensure work is completed to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
  12. Maintain high standards of personal accountability and follow the training received when using work items provided.
  13. Cooperate with others on health and safety and not interfere with or misuse anything provided for their health, safety, or welfare.
  14. Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do.

Requirements:

  1. BEng Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  2. Minimum of 5 years electrical/electronics/software design experience.
  3. Previous experience in a functional safety role working in accordance with a relevant international standard.
  4. Evidence of ISO 26262 certification and training.
  5. Demonstrable detailed understanding of ISO 26262.
  6. Ability to conduct and review HARA, FTA, and FMEA, etc.
  7. Experience of Functional Safety Management Systems.
  8. Excellent communication skills.
  9. Strong technical reporting skills.
  10. Highly motivated and positive attitude.
  11. Creative and innovative.
  12. Analytical mindset.
  13. Structured approach.
  14. Ability to maintain detailed records.
  15. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing requirements of the role.
