Health and Safety Specialist

Role:
We are seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join an established team and contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for employees across a 50-acre warehousing and distribution site based in the Midlands.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations, as well as experience in developing key health and safety assessments and conducting risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend improvements.
- Provide guidance and support to management and staff on all health and safety matters.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all operational activities.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Deliver health and safety training sessions to employees and ensure safety inductions for new staff and contractors.
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including risk assessments, audits, and incident reports.
- Work closely with management to promote a safety-first culture and improve health and safety performance across the business.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) in Health & Safety.
- Previous experience in a similar health and safety role, ideally within the logistics, warehousing, or distribution sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience of developing key health and safety assessments, e.g. PUWER, COSHH, Manual handling etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
