Your Role at Axon

This position will support our International Indirect Tax Manager in all aspects of international indirect tax, including VAT/GST, ESL, Intrastat, withholding tax, and more. You will collaborate with various members of the global tax team and stakeholders in other areas of the organization to contribute to accurate and timely general ledger accounts and compliance filings, as well as identify opportunities for automation.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work with our tax engine (Vertex), quoting and billing tool, and GL system (Dynamics) to confirm the appropriate VAT/GST tax treatment of our foreign entity invoices (A/R and A/P).
  • Gather, analyze, and summarize information on a monthly and quarterly basis to be provided to outside consultants for foreign VAT/GST return preparation.
  • Review returns once prepared by consultants.
  • Update and maintain tax codes for new and existing products.
  • Oversee VAT/GST tax payment process for global entities.
  • Manage all VAT/GST related balance sheet accounts on our GL, including preparing all month-end close procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee all governmental and company-related VAT/GST audits that arise.
  • Maintain the foreign indirect tax calendar/task matrix for all foreign compliance duties and deadlines.
  • Assist with indirect tax registrations in relevant tax jurisdictions.
  • Proactively monitor and operate a robust internal control tax environment in compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Assist with tax logic, create test scenarios, and work with the team related to system upgrades and new feature implementation.
  • Respond to questions and issues from business units and functional groups.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships outside the finance organization.
  • Other duties that may arise.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business or Financial Accounting, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or country equivalent designation preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in the tax accounting profession, some portion in global indirect tax.
  • Significant experience in the preparation of VAT/GST returns.
  • Experience with automation tools.
  • Must be a self-starter with an entrepreneur spirit.
  • Concern for quality and deadlines.
  • Superb attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
