Job Description:

As a Software Engineer at TomTom, you will be part of our Maps team, responsible for delivering the most up-to-date, accurate, and detailed maps for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and deploying high-quality systems to handle high volumes of externally supplied vehicle traffic data. This will involve building scalable, efficient, and resilient cloud-based software using Java, as well as managing the evolution of the storage data format and developing monitoring for production systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop cloud-based software systems using Java to handle high volumes of vehicle traffic data.
  • Manage the evolution of the storage data format and develop monitoring for production systems.
  • Collaborate with the development and data analytics teams to ensure seamless integration and data quality.
  • Analyze and validate incoming vehicle traffic data from new and existing suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain interactive visualizations of traffic data for both web and Java applications.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer with a strong Java background.
  • Passion for the product, technical design, implementation, and readiness to take ownership.
  • Desire to learn, expand your skill set, and share knowledge with peers, including mentoring and training.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices for creating maintainable and scalable software systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD and build tools, as well as knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
