Key Responsibilities- Manage University interactions with state and local agencies and regulatory bodies to coordinate and advance the University's priorities.
- Work with colleagues across government relations and relevant internal teams to consult and advise on regulatory processes and policy implications for the University and its operations.
- Bring significant knowledge of state and municipal regulatory processes and content to the role.
- Provide analysis and technical feedback on new or anticipated regulations, ordinances, legislation, and policies.
- Develop recommendations and strategies related to university projects and priorities.
- Support the University's regulatory and policy work at the state level and in Harvard's host communities.
- Monitor and anticipate changes to state and local legislation, regulations, and policies with impacts to campus activities.
- Provide timely advice and analysis to stakeholders on intergovernmental strategies and policy implications.
- Establish and maintain an internal network of colleagues across campus to analyze, interpret, and translate opportunities, risks, and questions associated with proposed policies or regulatory changes.
- Help identify opportunities to engage relevant peer institutions, associations, coalitions, and other external partners on topics of shared or mutual interest.
- Perform research analysis and make recommendations for next steps to advance outcomes based on analytics and key performance metrics.
- Bachelor's degree required with 8 or more years work experience in government, government relations, or regulatory affairs, preferably in a state or municipal government setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal, project management, and reporting, writing, and editing skills.
- Proven record of working collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with a variety of projects and constituencies.
- Innovative, strategic, and conceptually manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle difficult situations with a high level of professionalism.
- 3-4 weeks of accrued vacation time per year.
- 12 accrued sick days per year.
