AIG is reimagining the way we help customers manage risk, and we're looking for a skilled Senior Mergers and Acquisitions Underwriter to join our team. As a valued member of our underwriting team, you'll play a critical role in delivering timely and bespoke transaction insurance documents on M&A deals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough legal, financial, and commercial risk analysis for M&A deals to provide clients with tailored insurance solutions.
  2. Develop and market new business opportunities, assist with new product development, and build strong relationships with brokers, law firms, investment banks, accountants, and private equity funds.
  3. Collaborate with the M&A team to underwrite corporate transaction risks and deliver high-quality transaction insurance documents.
  4. Support management in implementing strategies to grow the book of business.
  5. Develop commercially successful relationships with M&A production and distribution sources.
  6. Attend and present at external client meetings, commercial, and legal seminars to build relationships and promote our services.
  7. Propose and develop new transaction insurance products.

Requirements:

  1. UK (or commonwealth) qualified lawyer preferred, or other relevant M&A transactional experience such as tax or accounting.
  2. Strong technical knowledge in negotiating and managing M&A transactions.
  3. Excellent legal, technical, and business development skills.
  4. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to draft high-quality legal and commercial documents.
  5. Ability to negotiate with commercially and legally sophisticated advisors and clients.
  6. Highly focused, enthusiastic, and creative thinker.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with the local financial lines team.
  8. Ability to understand and execute commercial decision-making in a context of legal risk assessment.
