**About the Role:**

We are seeking an experienced Optometrist or qualified Diabetic Eye Screener to join our team as a Slit Lamp Examiner. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with diabetic retinopathy, working independently in community locations across East Sussex.

As a key member of our East Sussex Diabetic Eye Screening Programme, you will examine patients using advanced clinical techniques, diagnose signs of diabetic retinopathy, and identify incidental findings of non-diabetic related eye disease. You will work closely with our team to grade images, participate in audit and research, and provide training at Multi-Disciplinary Meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality slit lamp examinations to patients with diabetic retinopathy.
  • Work independently in community locations across East Sussex.
  • Collaborate with the DESP team to grade images and participate in audit and research.
  • Provide training at Multi-Disciplinary Meetings.

Requirements:

  • Registered Optometrist or qualified Diabetic Eye Screener.
  • Experience of SLB examination and correct use of the Volk lens to examine the retina.
  • Specialist knowledge of diabetic retinopathy and other referable eye conditions.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
