We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming and inclusive special school in Barnstaple. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with profound or severe learning difficulties and those on the autistic spectrum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support, including one-to-one assistance and small group interventions as needed.
  • Assist the teacher with lesson planning, resource gathering, and activity set up.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, promoting a secure and supportive environment.
  • Effectively manage student behaviour and address individual needs in accordance with EHCPs.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.

About You:

  • Experience working with children in the UK, whether in early years, primary, or secondary education.
  • A strong understanding of special educational needs and strategies to support young people.
  • Personal qualities: resilient, adaptable, hardworking, and possess a good sense of humour.
  • Professional growth: a willingness to develop your knowledge and skills further.
  • Flexibility: ability to adapt to changing plans at short notice.

This role is perfect for university students, experienced TAs looking for a new challenge, or anyone wanting to work around their current schedule. You will be working term-time only, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 3:30pm.
