At McCloy Consulting Limited, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Trainee Flood Modeller to join our dynamic team. As a Trainee Flood Modeller, you will play a key role in assisting our experienced engineers, hydrologists, and environmental scientists in the development of hydraulic and hydrological models for flood risk assessments.

The successful candidate will have a strong numerical and analytical background, with a keen interest in spatial analysis techniques and an interest in learning hydraulic and hydrological modelling software. You will work closely with our team to design and deliver surface water and drainage projects, and assist in preparing reports and documentation for both internal use and client deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of hydraulic and hydrological models for flood risk assessments.
  • Support the design and delivery of surface water and drainage projects.
  • Learn to interpret data and provide technical solutions for flood management.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for both internal use and client deliverables.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • An apprenticeship or degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Interest in spatial analysis techniques and an interest in GIS.
  • Interest in learning hydraulic and hydrological modelling software (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM).
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative work approach.
