Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Description

This esteemed client is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team and support the Commercial Director in overseeing the Commercial Operations within the M&E Capital Programme or Planned Works Programme.

About the Client

This client operates across the UK, focusing on their portfolio of over 57,000 homes. They provide a range of care and support services, specializing in older people, mental health, and transitional services for marginalized or vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis of monthly expenditure to ensure optimal financial management
  • Negotiation of contract rates to secure favorable terms
  • Closing out end-of-contract final accounts with precision
  • Extension of supply chain contracts to maintain seamless operations
  • Detailed analysis of variance against budget and forecasts to inform strategic decisions
  • Analysis of quotes from contractors to ensure cost-effectiveness

Requirements

  • Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying and have 6-10 years of experience in the role
  • Experience in working in a Senior Quantity Surveying or Commercial Manager role in a Social Housing, commercial environment, including the application of Nat Fed Schedule of Rates based contracts
  • Experience in carrying out annual contract reviews, price negotiations, and agreeing monthly valuations to final accounts on planned & M&E servicing programmes
  • Good planning, budgeting, organizing, and prioritization skills, with the ability to interpret financial and other systems data
  • Experience managing staff in a commercial-related environment
  • Previous experience of managing various forms of Contracts and Cost Models, i.e., Responsive Repairs, Voids, Planned Capital Programmes, Open book, Target cost, PPP, PPV, AMP cost models
  • Experience in working closely with Finance at P&L reviews, analyzing variances, trends, and assisting in the preparation of Budgets and forecasts
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Excellent writing skills and demonstrable evidence of writing narratives and reports for formal disputes
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing skills
