Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Liaison Practitioner

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic CAMHS practitioner to lead our extended Mental Health Liaison Service for all-age mental health problems within the Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Children and Young People have access to quality and timely psychiatric assessment and support.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading and developing the offer of Psychiatric Liaison to Children and Young People in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
- Undertaking assessment of mental health and care needs of inpatients in the acute hospitals with mental health problems in cooperation with multi-disciplinary teams within the hospital.
- Providing clinical advice relating to complex mental health issues to nurses and other health care professionals.
- Effective referral to and liaison with a range of agencies and services to meet the patient's mental health needs.
- Contributing to the development of operational and clinical policies relevant to the Liaison Mental Health Service.

Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications:
- Qualification and Professional Registration in one of the following: Nursing, Social Work, Clinical Psychology/Psychological Therapy, Allied Health (SaLT, OT)
- Masters / Post Graduate qualification related to child and adolescent mental health or equivalent extensive experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Enhanced clinical qualification / training (ACCP, Independent Prescriber, DBT, EMDR, CBT)
Essential Experience:
- Experience working with children and young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs, in high levels of distress, including risk assessment and safety planning
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of local authority child protection processes
- Experience of supervising and supporting a nursing/healthcare team
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of working in acute / inpatient / crisis settings and using the Mental Health Act
Personal Attributes:
- Resilience to manage patients presenting with highly distressing conditions on a daily basis
- Demonstrates trust values consistently
