Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Governor to join our Board of Governors at Clarkson Evans, a leading electrical and solar installer in the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in further or higher education, construction, or accountancy/HR/Wellbeing experience to contribute their knowledge and expertise to support the strategic leadership and governance of our training centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for attending quarterly governor meetings, assisting the Board in overseeing training activities, reviewing and supporting decision-making, and contributing ideas to support our objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Attend quarterly governor meetings and actively participate in discussions.
  2. Assist the Board in strategically overseeing training activities, setting targets, and monitoring performance.
  3. Use professional and specialist skills to review and support decision-making in a non-executive capacity.
  4. Sense-check annual financial forecasts.
  5. Review training centre policies and procedures to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose and compliant.
  6. Contribute ideas to support learner retention and attainment, diversity, and inclusion.
  7. Provide oversight of our annual self-assessment process.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the mission and values of Clarkson Evans and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A willingness to commit up to half a day per month to duties and a desire to learn and develop through training opportunities are essential.
