Area Ranger

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Area Ranger to join our team at the National Trust. As a key member of our countryside team, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a small team of rangers to deliver conservation, access, and land management improvements across our estate.
You will be the primary contact for our local communities and farm tenants, building strong relationships and working collaboratively to achieve our goals. With a focus on detail and compliance, you will ensure that we meet our obligations and maintain high standards of presentation and practical work delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and support a small team of rangers to deliver conservation, access, and land management improvements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities and farm tenants
- Work collaboratively with farm tenants to explore opportunities for nature conservation
- Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain high standards of presentation and practical work delivery
- Identify opportunities to inspire and involve local and wider audiences in our work
- Strong practical access and habitat management experience
- Good people skills and ability to motivate and lead
- Good communication skills and ability to build relationships
- Good understanding of compliance and risk in the countryside
- Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Competence with machinery and equipment, such as chainsaws and trailers
- Full UK driving licence
