Job Summary
SGS is seeking a highly skilled Certification Engineer - Flameproof/Increased Safety to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for assessing the design of equipment in accordance with IEC60079 series Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of equipment designs to ensure compliance with IEC60079 series Standards.
- Prepare detailed assessment, certification, examination, and test reports in accordance with relevant procedure documents.
- Review and assess drawing, photographic, and descriptive documentation to ensure complete specification of equipment for compliance with relevant standards.
- Prepare certificates that accurately describe the equipment being certified, including any acceptable variations in design, and reference to assessed documentation.
- Certify equipment with respect to UKCA, ATEX, IECEx, and North American schemes.
- Communicate effectively with manufacturers or their agents, and provide specialist advice and guidance as needed.
- Estimate costs for assessment, testing, and certification exercises, and specify sample equipment and special requirements as necessary.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to government departments, manufacturers, and users of equipment subject to certification by SGS.
- Review, check, and countersign the work of others in specific areas of work.
Requirements
- Technical qualification gained through higher education in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in the assessment and certification of electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with relevant Ex Standards.
- Degree level qualification in Mechanical/Electrical engineering (desirable).
