Job Title: Registered Building Inspector

ATS Recruitment is seeking a skilled Building Control Surveyor to join our client's team on a freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading Approved Inspector and contribute to the delivery of high-quality building control services.

About the Role

As a Building Control Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing proactive building regulations plans and site assessment/inspections to clients in the Manchester-Northwest area. Your duties will include:

  • Inspecting buildings under construction and/or conversion, working closely with developers and builders to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Plan checking to ensure compliance with building regulations.
  • Effectively self-managing your workload to provide a responsive, helpful, and professional service while maximizing time spent on site.
  • Recording inspection details on the database and communicating comments to customers.
  • Ongoing liaison with surveyors and management on technical matters to ensure standards are maintained and procedures adhered to.
  • Ongoing liaison with developers/clients/builders, offering technical advice and guidance.
  • Undertaking any other duties as reasonably required and building relationships.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ideal registration to BSR Level 2-3 or on route.
  • Excellent client-handling skills, technical expertise, organization, and self-motivation.
  • Full membership or near chartership of professional organizations: MRICS/MCABE, MCIOB, MCICIOW, or similar in the appropriate discipline of Building Control.
  • Able to conduct inspections at each stage of the build.
  • 5 years of relevant BC experience, plan check, and site inspections, and relevant warranty, quality, or defect resolution experience.
  • Appropriate knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations, associated legislation, and construction standards.
  • Understanding of general insurance principles and terminology desirable.
