Job Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Awareness of patients' care plans and reporting back to the nurse in charge regarding the care delivered during each shift
  • Participation in nursing handovers when requested by the nurse in charge
  • Effective communication with patients, their carers, relatives, and other visitors to the hospice
  • Liaising with all staff members, attending departmental meetings as required, and supporting volunteers working on the inpatient unit
  • Referral to person-centred information in the provision of care and access to person-centred information to support the delivery of care and support to patients and those important to them

You will work under the direction of the Senior Sister, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Evidence of recent care experience, preferably in palliative care or a similar setting
  • A basic understanding of holistic needs and effective communication skills

Possession of the NVQ level 3 health and social care qualification or equivalent is desirable.
