Senior Cardiologist

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cardiologist to join its team. As a leading healthcare provider, the Trust offers comprehensive secondary and tertiary services to a population of approximately 2.5 million.
The successful candidate will work closely with the University Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, rotating clinical lecturers and consultants between departments. Academic interests include myocardial hypertrophy, vascular biology, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure high-quality patient care
- Contribute to clinical service management and service development
- Support advanced nurse specialists in performing clinical duties
- Collaborate with colleagues in neighbouring district general hospitals
Teaching and Research
The post-holder will participate in teaching clinical students, training doctors in training, and clinical examinations. Teaching, training, and research contributions will be included in regular job plan reviews.
Clinical Governance
- Participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, effectiveness, risk management, and quality improvement
Personal and Professional Development
- Keep up-to-date with relevant practice areas and demonstrate this to the Trust
- Access professional or study leave to support study, postgraduate training, CME courses, and personal development needs
Management
- Work within Trust management policies and procedures, accepting finite resources and prior agreement for changes in practice or workload
- Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care and clinical service management
The post-holder will have access to an administrator and IT equipment to support clinical duties, and will work closely with the lead clinician and/or directorate chair.
