Job Title: Senior Environmental Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Environmental Management and Assessment Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients in achieving their environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert environmental advice and support to clients and project managers
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
  • Manage the delivery of environmental inputs into projects, including EIA screening requests and scoping reports
  • Oversee project performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects
  • Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities to provide support in areas such as resourcing, programming, and project delivery
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and bid participation
  • Support the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we do business
  • Inspire and upskill junior colleagues to support their career development
Requirements:
  • Relevant environmental degree-level qualification
  • Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or similar qualification with a relevant professional body
  • Strong experience of EIA and EIA processes, working with limited supervision in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Sound knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation
  • Demonstrable post-qualified experience of coordinating environmental assessments on a variety of projects
  • Appreciation of project management activities, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting, and quality assurance
  • Experience in work-winning and bid preparation activities
  • Experience of liaising with cross-discipline teams, clients, and external bodies and organisations
  • First-rate verbal and written communication skills, including report writing with attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of promoting a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture
