Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineer to join our team at Liberty Speciality Steels. As an Instrumentation Specialist, you will be responsible for undertaking both reactive and preventative maintenance to a wide range of combustion/instrumentation/control systems in a modern steel production facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake maintenance and repair of instrumentation and control systems, including furnace combustion systems, air/gas ratio control, and PID control for burner systems.
  • Calibrate instrumentation and perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Assist in the efficient planning and running of the process control function through following routine planned maintenance schedules and quality assurance.
  • Monitor performance, predict failures, and implement improvements to increase safety, production output, and plant reliability.
  • Develop and implement solutions to faults and issues, and assist in the coordination of responses to breakdowns.

Requirements:

  • Hold a recognized Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship (HNC/ONC level or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in instrumentation/control/electrical systems, including furnace combustion systems, air/gas ratio control, and PID control for burner systems.
  • Experience of a wide range of measurement and instrumentation methods and equipment.
  • Calibration of instrumentation and experience of electronics, including fault finding and repair to component level.
  • Experience of PC-based systems, their associated communications, and CCTV and audio communications systems.
  • A knowledge of PLC and SCADA-based systems, predominantly related to fault finding.
  • Good level of problem-solving awareness and ability to read and understand electrical drawings and work with technical data.
  • A good understanding and knowledge of Health Safety Legislation, with experience of adhering to SWPs, risk assessments, procedures, and permit systems.
  • Experience of written reporting for detailing activities, plant maintenance, and reliability.
  • Experience of planning of work schedules and reporting of daily/weekly jobs.
  • Previous use of a variety of computerized maintenance management systems and other computerized tools.
  • Competence in 16th/17th Edition I.E.T. Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience of working in confined spaces and at heights.

Working Hours:

This role is a Monday to Friday position with a mixture of afternoons, mornings, and nights. Average shift is 8 hours.
