Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and ambitious Specialist Practitioner to join our Autism Liaison Service. This new post is part of our innovative provision with acute mental health services, focusing on supporting autistic service users in community and recovery mental health services who are at increased risk of readmissions or frequent unplanned care.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will provide a client-centred autism specialist service to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs across acute and community mental health. This will involve assessments and interventions, as well as outreach input to autistic adults at risk of readmission or frequent unplanned care. The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and meet the needs of service users under the care of acute mental health services with a diagnosis of autism or where autism is suspected.

Person Specification

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in mental health, preferably with experience in working with autistic individuals. Essential criteria include a professional qualification in mental health, current registration with the relevant professional body, and relevant post-qualification experience in Mental Health and/or Autism and/or Learning Disabilities. Desirable criteria include training relevant to working with autistic people, experience of supervision of students and staff, and experience of delivering training/teaching.
