Vacancy Overview

East Lothian Council is seeking to recruit qualified secondary teachers to cover short-term and fixed-term supply positions across our 7 secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities

Teach relevant subjects to pupils in S1-S6.

Perform tasks as directed by the Head Teacher, with consideration for overall teacher workload, including:

  • Teaching assigned classes, preparation, and correction
  • Developing the school curriculum
  • Assessing, recording, and reporting pupil work
  • Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with administration
  • Providing advice and guidance on educational issues
  • Promoting pupil health, welfare, and safety
  • Working with parents, support staff, and other professionals
  • Participating in school planning, achievement, and individual review
  • Contributing to good order and the school's wider needs

Subject Requirements

We are specifically looking for teachers of the following subjects:

  • Bus Ed
  • History
  • German, Modern Languages

Additional Requirements

All Supply Staff are expected to complete Child Protection Training on the Council's e-learning system within one week of being added to the Supply Register.
