Court of Protection Department

The Court of Protection department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors is a multidisciplinary team that provides expert advice and representation in Court of Protection matters. Our team has a strong reputation for achieving the best possible results for our clients, and we are committed to providing a high level of service and support.

We have a deep understanding of the complexities of Court of Protection law and are well-equipped to handle a wide range of cases, including personal injury trusts, statutory wills and gift applications, deputyship applications, and on-going deputyship administration.

Main Responsibilities of the Role
  • Report directly to Department Director
  • Provide professional and proactive support to clients and colleagues
  • Assist with Court of Protection matters, including personal injury trusts, statutory wills and gift applications, deputyship applications, and on-going deputyship administration
  • Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare cases
  • Deal with correspondence and maintain accurate time costing procedures
  • Implement recommendations made by supervisor following monthly file reviews
  • Ensure compliance with file management
Key Skills Required
  • Demonstrate passion and experience in Court of Protection law
  • Strong academic background with a Law degree
  • Legal experience as a Court of Protection Paralegal/Advisor
  • Clear understanding and application of Court of Protection law
  • Business acumen and ability to market the Company
  • Excellent communications skills to work effectively with all types of people
  • Excellent written communication and drafting skills
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills and ability to use own initiative but know when to seek guidance
  • Committed team player, self-motivated and professional
  • Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
