Job Title: Mechanical CAD Designer

At Babcock International Group, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Mechanical CAD Designer, you'll play a key role in our Cavendish Nuclear business, which is responsible for decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, and building nuclear power plants.

The Role

As a Mechanical CAD Designer, you'll be responsible for creating cutting-edge designs, leading on project delivery, and providing solutions to our clients. You'll work closely with our Design and other functional teams to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain design documents throughout the design lifecycle, following ISO standards and meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with Design and other functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Develop innovative design solutions and solutions to manufacturing/installation issues.
  • Assist senior designers with a range of activities, including estimates, quality control, and test procedures.
  • Fulfill Design Lead responsibilities for single discipline low-risk projects.
  • Maintain expertise in best practices across the design lifecycle, including customs and standards, and company policies (health & safety, diversity, etc.).

Requirements

  • You'll need to be someone who owns and delivers, champions high performance, and is courageous to challenge the status quo.
  • You'll need knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
  • You'll need to be able to build strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • You'll need a minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
