About the Role

The Senior Emergency Practitioner will be a registered healthcare professional from a nursing, paramedic, or physiotherapy background. They will hold experience and skills in minor injuries and illnesses, with the ability to prescribe medications in accordance with the British National Formulary and local guidelines.

As a clinical expert, the Senior Emergency Practitioner will be responsible for the total episode of care for patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral or discharge. They will work as an autonomous practitioner, directing and delivering a patient-focused service within the Emergency Department and Medical Division.

Main Responsibilities

The Senior Emergency Practitioner will assess, investigate, treat, and either refer or discharge patients who present with minor injuries and illnesses across the adult and pediatric age spans. They will be expected to use electronic patient records and interpret investigations such as X-rays and pathology results.

The post holder will be a role model and support direct clinical care by working as an autonomous practitioner to patients who present with minor injuries and illnesses. They will be required to hold a professional registration with the NMC or HCPC and maintain standards in accordance.

Requirements

  • Active RN Adult/Paediatric registration with the NMC or HCPC
  • United Kingdom recognised Degree in either Minor Injury & Illness or Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment, Reasoning and Differential Diagnosis for Urgent, Emergency and Primary Care Practitioners
  • Non-Medical Independent & Supplementary Prescribing
