Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Nurse Therapist to join our team as part of the OPD Fens services located within a high secure male prison service.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to provide mental health support in a unique environment, offering specialist knowledge, advice, consultation, and clinically based interventions. As a Senior Clinical Nurse Therapist, you will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload, providing individual and group therapy, and developing formulations and treatment plans for residents' mental health and behavioral problems.

You will work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and Service Manager to ensure continuity of care and close working relationships with partners in NHFT. Tasks may involve working outside of the Fens services, including residential wings, workshops, the healthcare centre, and attending prisoners in temporary locations such as the Segregation Unit or Close Supervision Unit.

The post holder will develop and deliver specialist clinics addressing holistic needs, focusing on trauma, personality difficulties, and comorbid mental health conditions. You will contribute to ongoing review, development, and delivery of Mental Health training and education to other staff, liaising and consulting with the Fens Services Consultant Psychiatrist, NHFT Psychiatrist, primary health care team, and secondary MH teams within the prison.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Nurse/RMN or Learning Disability qualification
  • Specific therapeutic training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, Schema, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, or other psychological approaches
  • Substantial post-registration experience in senior nursing positions, including leadership functions
  • Experience of managing a nursing service

Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
