At Continuum Industries, we're accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future using Artificial Intelligence. Our AI-powered tool, Optioneer, helps plan new infrastructure projects faster, more sustainably, and with lower risk.

We're seeking Senior Backend Engineers to join our Applications Team in Edinburgh, working on a flexible hybrid model. Our team of 13 people includes front-end, back-end, full-stack, and DevOps experts, all passionate about engineering and technology with a positive impact.

Optioneer is a data-rich application that ingests geospatial data on a national scale. It uses this data to create optimal routes for infrastructure based on hundreds of constraints. This tool is used by specialists in the infrastructure industry, such as Civil/Design/GIS Engineers, Environmental Consultants, and Project Managers, to significantly reduce planning and development time for linear infrastructure.

Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
  • Ownership & Delivery of Features: Lead the development and delivery of complex features from inception to deployment and beyond.
  • Design & Architecture: Improve code structure and architecture, optimising for performance at scale.
  • Best Practice: Implement and recommend software design/development practices in the team.
  • Driving & Delivering New Functionality: Find ways to improve data flow and ensure data integrity as we scale.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
