The Environmental and Sustainability Officer will play a crucial role in assisting the Environmental and Sustainability Manager in developing and implementing the Trust's plans to reduce its environmental impact. This includes reducing energy consumption, water usage, and carbon emissions across the Trust's estate and partner sites.
Main Responsibilities- Assist in implementing current and emerging legislation related to environmental management and sustainability.
- Liaise with the Environmental and Sustainability Manager to ensure effective management of utility contracts and energy usage.
- Develop and deliver sustainability behaviour change and staff engagement programmes to promote environmental awareness and reduce costs.
- Support sustainability communications both internally and externally, and assist with Freedom of Information enquiries related to environmental and sustainability issues.
- Work with the energy supplier to find solutions to billing queries and ensure compliance with Trust standing orders and standing financial instructions.
- Attend courses as directed and maintain Personal Professional Development to remain up-to-date with developments in environmental management and sustainability.
- Minimum level NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area, such as environmental management, science, engineering, or healthcare.
- Experience in identifying and addressing environmental and sustainability issues within an organisation, engaging with staff on behaviour change projects, and producing engaging communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work under own initiative and prioritise work streams.
