We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at the University of York.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will work closely with a website designer to establish a project website, manage the website, and contribute to writing blog posts and running an Instagram feed.
They will also collaborate with other team members to recruit participants and execute fieldwork, including spending around 10 weeks in Mexico. This will involve facilitating zine making workshops and taking the lead on collecting data using photovoice.
The Research Associate will contribute to writing academic outputs, translate the co-created zine from Spanish into English, and work collaboratively with other team members to organise an exhibition of the co-produced artwork in York.
They will also disseminate the work through attendance at academic conferences and exhibitions, and undertake other activities necessary to achieve the project aims.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the website designer to establish and manage the project website.

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant subject area, such as sociology, gender studies, critical art studies, or social movement studies.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of one or more of the substantive research themes, such as gender-based violence, Latin America, or artivism.
They will also have experience of using qualitative research methodologies, ideally including creative and arts-based methods.
Research expertise in an area that will complement and enhance the department's research strategy and goals is essential.
Experience of conducting both independent and collaborative research, as well as writing up research for publication, is also required.
The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team and independently, and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
