The Role

As a Structural Analysis Engineer at QinetiQ, you will be part of a team that uses advanced finite element-based structural analysis codes to simulate the response of complex materials and structures in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and validating simulation methods to evaluate the effect of emerging technologies on target structures
  • Assessing collisions between drones and crewed aircraft using a combination of simulation methods and full-scale testing
  • De-risking the development of large composite structures for major maritime programmes
  • Supporting the development of hypersonic airframe technologies

Essential qualifications include:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Expertise in finite element modelling methods, using ABAQUS
  • Ability to deliver projects that include high levels of novel research and methods development
  • Knowledge of adjacent technical disciplines such as design, manufacturing, materials, aerodynamics/hydrodynamics
