About the Role

Ansys is seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Research Engineer to join our Academic Development team within the CTO's office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials or computer science and experience in sustainability, with a focus on circular economy strategies, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), critical raw materials, renewable energy technologies, and information and communication systems.

The selected candidate will work closely with internal and external teams of researchers and developers to support the development of innovative solutions for a CR&D UKRI-funded project. This project is a critical component of our strategy to develop sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the team and external European partners to transform project requirements into solution designs that align with Ansys roadmaps.
  2. Contribute to the design, development, and testing of a workflow system, offering recommendations for integration with external information systems, and developing case studies.
  3. Support the delivery of project objectives.
  4. Communicate project updates and collect feedback from the wider Ansys organization, as well as participate in project meetings externally.
Requirements
  1. A degree in materials, computer science, or a related field, with at least 1 year of experience or a PhD.
  2. Experience in developing web solutions and applications using Python frameworks.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Organized and self-motivated approach, with strong time-management skills, teamwork, and cultural awareness.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience working on collaborative, funded R&D projects, such as Horizon Europe.
  2. Experience or interest in developing workflow systems and Python applications.
  3. Experience with Ansys solvers and tools, such as Granta MI, Discovery, Workbench, optiSLang, pyAnsys, etc.
  4. Formal coding training and/or professional experience.
  5. Knowledge or experience in circular economy strategies, LCA, critical raw materials, renewable energy technologies.
