Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join our Engineering team at Inspired Pet Nutrition.

This role will be based in our Thirsk manufacturing plant, where you will be responsible for supporting production to provide consistently high-quality, safe products on time.

You will work in a manner that satisfies Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation, using a combination of planning daily maintenance activities, supporting and coaching breakdown analysis.

The main focus will be on improving reliability of the assets by coordinating and planning shift activities and providing feedback on preventative maintenance to continually make improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform planned and predictive maintenance of equipment and complete ad hoc repairs in a timely manner and by prioritising works in line with site priorities to ensure that efficient production is maintained.
  • Assessing the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels. Escalate any issues in a timely manner to the Engineering manager.
  • Ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment. Champion safety.
  • Using route cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed.
  • Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive the improvement throughout the site.
  • Undertake training and assist with the training of other colleagues when required. Act as a buddy for new colleagues and provide guidance where necessary.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team to create a culture which ensures that people are kept safe, engaged, focused, developed and delivering to their potential while providing reliable manufacturing processes that comply with Food Safety and Health and Safety Standards
Requirements:
  • Relevant apprenticeship (Electrical / Mechanical)
  • Member of recognised professional body - IET/IMech E, ICT/Institute of Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and Best Practice Maintenance
  • Legionella and HACCP awareness
  • Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Reliability Management expertise (FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM etc)
  • Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology or working towards
