Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Composites to join our team at Prospec Associates. This is a contract role outside IR35, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of composite materials supplied to our clients.

About the Role

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer - Composites will work closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to establish and maintain robust quality processes for composite materials used in products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive engineering, with experience in driving quality improvement in the NPI process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, create, and manage a strategy for meeting programme quality requirements
  • Manage and continuously improve an agile quality management system and team
  • Support FMEA activities
  • Provide guidance to the inspection team and ensure that quality best practices are being followed
  • Create close working relationships with suppliers to ensure that the development of safety-critical parts are robustly manufactured
  • Audit suppliers for approval or performance assessment of new and existing suppliers
  • Develop strategies to ensure that visual carbon composites are in line with customer requirements
  • Utilise 8D principles as a basis for effective problem resolution and facilitate the resolution of complex, cross-functional issues
  • Actively work with suppliers to collaboratively develop product specifications to align with process capability

Requirements

  • Degree or similar in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Engineering
  • Automotive Tier 1/OEM or SQE experience, with sound knowledge of APQP systems & procedures
  • Experience in driving quality improvement in the NPI process
  • Auditing experience
