Job Summary

This is a challenging role for a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Project Engineer to lead and manage capital projects across both Edinburgh and Annan sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all designs and installations are carried out in accordance with site engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Act as the site E+I SME on all CAPEX designs and installations.
  2. Manage contract E+I discipline engineers, ensuring they comply with business standards.
  3. Manage project EPC contractor to ensure their designs are in compliance with site standards and provide prompt answers to TQs received.
  4. Ensure all CAPEX projects are suitably scoped with regards to any proposed E+I activity.
  5. Liaise with Maintenance & Compliance teams to ensure E+I proposals align with site requirements.
  6. Responsible for budget control and reporting for all projects under their direction.
  7. Manage Functional Safety compliance on CAPEX projects, ensuring ongoing conformance to Functional Safety Lifecycle requirements of IEC 61508 / 61511, including verification of design/installation and system certification.
  8. Ensure new E&I equipment installed is assessed for Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality impact, with appropriate PM tasks identified.
  9. Ensure critical spares for new installations have been identified and ordered.
  10. Provide technical input where requested into current site standards to ensure they remain up-to-date and aligned with current best practice.
  11. Effectively plan resource for all E+I activity on CAPEX projects.
  12. Ensure IS calculations and loop drawings are updated for all CAPEX projects.
  13. Provide hands-on support during project handover.
  14. Support training of operational teams for any new installations.
  15. Ensure qualification/quality obligations are met for all project I & E activity.
  16. Provide technical guidance to all departments, including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and fault finding of E&I issues.
  17. Provide ad-hoc technical support to maintenance and compliance teams for any ongoing operational issues on plant.
  18. Take on any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Scope

The scope of this role covers Capital Projects across both Edinburgh and Annan sites. The role will cover projects in the 1-3 year planning horizon with project support for project execution in the 0-12 months.

Requirements

  1. Qualified in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control - preferably chartered.
  2. Experience and proven track record of delivering complex engineering E+I projects.
  3. Experience of permit to work systems (including working at height, confined space, isolations).
  4. Experience of project budget control and reporting.
  5. Experience leading a team of discipline E+I engineers in a project environment.
  6. Experience with installations in hazardous areas (ATEX).
  7. Functional safety experience.
  8. NEBOSH or other safety qualification.
  9. Experience with site commissioning and fault finding.

  3. Computer literacy skills (Word, OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel).
  4. Comfortable dealing with external and internal contractors.
