About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher with SEN experience to join our team at a vibrant, independent school in South Bristol. As a Science Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and accessible science lessons to students in year 7 – 11.

Many of the students have complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH challenges, and experienced educational trauma. This role is not just about delivering curriculum content – it's about fostering a safe and supportive environment where students can rebuild trust in their education and in themselves.

Your ability to form strong, empathetic relationships with students and act as a trusted figure in their lives is essential. You will be working with students who may be reluctant or anxious about education due to past experiences.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in SEN teaching is essential, particularly working with children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Confident teaching Key Stage 3+4 Science.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and positive, with a strong sense of empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Able to maintain a positive mindset and language, even when faced with challenges.
  • A sense of humour is highly valued.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
